100% agree.  No movie is perfect, but this one chose to be fun. Absolutely felt like picking up a comic back in the 90s when I read them - the only thing missing was the “Previously seen in issue 245" in the corner since this one is deep MCU lore by bringing together so many movies and series, and somehow still  made

The fact they didn’t even mention it? Crime. This + Spirited are the 2 guaranteed christmas watches now.

They lean in so hard to their own absurdity so it absolutely works. Generally we’ve found that the first time you’re surprised it’s not bad, and it actually ends up being more enjoyable each time we watch it after (because the numbers are just too damn catchy). Also there’s a lot of little things you can catch with

Spirited is our new Family Classic to watch.  That plus the Guardians christmas special get several plays through the season to give some of the old classics a rest.

You and I do not visit the same forums and reddit threads, sir.

“Then, in maybe the most shocking occurrence, Marvel spoiled a cameo by Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie in a pre-release trailer. That type of thing has never happened before and, from an outside perspective, felt like a marketing hail mary, similar to how Warner Bros. put Superman in Black Adam commercials.”

Honestly had fun. The plot wasn’t tight, but it becomes obvious pretty early it’s not really about the major plot and far more about the 3 main characters.

Glad someone else remembered Go On - definitely my favorite series of his.

Hell yeah.  Bring on season 2!

I had a coworker who’s sister was having some issues so she went to the doctor. After a few treatments and no progress on her issues, the doctor told her - I shit you not - to pray on it.

SOTN may be old, but my friends and I were just discussing great games (as this has been a banner year for them so far) and frankly SOTN is just an across the board top 5 game.

Pedro no doubt IMO.

A travesty that he’s held responsible for his actions against other people?

That opening was and still is fire.  Love the music in that opening recap too - even without the excellent voiceover, the driving music was just so good.

If you want movies to do your heavy lifting politically you’re in for a bad ride. Schindler’s List exists and we still have people who deny the holocaust happened. The Watchmen (a show, granted) introduced the Tulsa Massacre to a lot of people who were never taught it in history, but still not everyone knows it

100% honestly disagree. What they did do is manage to make a movie like this under the reins of Mattel trying to get in there and “WB Exec” all over the place, and still have it be successful.

The movie can’t hear your criticism over it’s $1 billion dollar box office.

So I can’t help but parallel Barbie movie and mattel with MCU/DCEU

Selfishly on my end as an artist, I think companies should not be generating art from a system developed on other people’s art and replacing human jobs with generic AI garbage.

I non-stopped laughed through the whole thing. Loved so much of it. Even got a bit teary at one point because hearing and seeing what the movie was doing just is so rare these days.
