When did earrings become sexy?
When did earrings become sexy?
That is true. My dad has a friend who is incredibly wealthy and teaches economics at a university for no salary. He also lives in a pretty non-descript house in a regular neighborhood, so you'd never know how much money he has.
I worked for years at a fancy restaurant on the upper west side of NYC. There are in fact a lot of wealthy people who are deserving of scorn just for being wealthy because they believe their wealth makes them better than those who have less than they do. Not all wealthy people, but a lot of the ones I met.
And that anecdote is why I want to elope! So much drama surrounding what is supposed to be a happy occasion! How do we have it so backwards?
I wouldn't want to spend more than $1k on a wedding, and probably the majority of that would go towards an amazing cake. I would get married just for the cake.
I'm honestly not trying to be a jerk here but.....don't spend that much money then? Do a cheap-o wedding in a backyard somewhere. A big expensive wedding is not a requirement for marriage.
Is....that a thing? I think it's bad enough that I have to pay to fly out and stay in a hotel for friends' weddings. (Yes, I could just decline the invitation, but for all my complaining, I do want to be there for my friends.)
I think it's a kind of commonly held belief that the more money one thinks should be spent on a wedding, the more likely it is that that person will be a "bridezilla."
I never got the jealous thing about being a vegetarian, but I did often get "but the Bible says we are supposed to eat meat!" My family is super religious and wary of any "alternative" life choices.
My fear of the dark stems from my intense fear of going blind. I need to have some sort of light, either from a clock radio, or a bathroom light or something. I also do not sleep well, and I wonder how that connects with my version of fearing darkness.
I wasn't trying to say she was the bad guy, I was having a hard time expressing my thoughts before.
I think I might get pounced on for this, because obviously this guy is a piece of shit, and a terrible human being, but the woman he punched was swatting at him with a newspaper. His original physical anger was directed at the woman he threw water at, and she involved herself physically by approaching him and swatting…
This is mildly off-topic, but since Erin mentioned it as a joke, I'd just like to point out that there actually ARE McMansions on the outskirts of Provo. I don't know if she's ever been there, or just psychic, but the houses are ridiculous. I had a "friend" that lived in one of them, and all the houses were so…
I know, I think it's like, the huge universities that cater to kids from well-off families that don't have to worry about paying bills, or keeping grades for scholarships, and just binge-drink that give college students a bad name. Not that scholarship and working students DON"T party, but I think to a somewhat lesser…
Wait...he was comparing gay people to termites? And the house is....un-gays? Not only is it revolting, it's a terrible analogy!
Yeah, the love the sinner, hate the sin attitude produces not only self-loathing, but also people who adopt the stance of, 'it's not YOU I hate, it's everything you stand for....' which isn't very kind or welcoming.
I was raised Mormon, and the church's current stance on homosexuality is that same-sex attraction is not a sin, but any sexual activity outside of marriage is a sin, including heterosexual actions, and since gay marriage is not recognized by the church, gay sexual activity is a sin. I'm not excusing the stance, or…

I dated a guy who worked on Wall Street and the fact that I was (at the time) quite petite in both stature and weight, definitely was a plus for him and I was trotted out as a trophy a few times. The relationship obviously didn't last.
