The GLA, much like my Golf, is a hatchback. It sits slightly higher off the ground. Living in WI, if I was looking for a premium hatchback, that seems somewhat useful

Yes! I put on average ~25k mi/yr on a 2010 Golf TDI. It's fun, it's fast, and I can press the gas pedal as hard as I want and still get 40+mpg.
