Microsoft wants Nokia to have a presence in the US (as has been reiterated before). There are rumblings on forums that evidently Nokia is making a beastly 4 inch phone for Verizon for early 2012. Again, it's a rumor but who knows what will be unveiled at Nokia World next week. It's quite possible that we may even see

Dude, it's not Windows Mobile. it's Windows Phone.

I think you mean WP8 by that time as Tango/Apollo will be released in late 2012.

Glad we're on the same page.

Did you not notice the quotes I used? I said "fragmentation" since it's a term that best describes whatever this is. And who cares about apps. it's about an experience. If I have an HTC Thunderbolt with front facing camera, why should I be denied the ability to unlock my phone with my face just because HTC won't

I hear you on that. I had a faulty Cyanogen install and my phone wouldn't even let me make a call!

I'm with you. I'm waiting to see what Nokia brings with WP7 otherwise it's hello iOS.

The problem is, a custom ROM shouldn't be necessary. I shouldn't need to resort to downloading and rooting my phone to get a software upgrade. I think that's the issue.

The other issue is that Apple has guaranteed a shelf life of every phone for 2+ years. I have a Droid Incredible and basically once Froyo came out there was little support for the phone. If I buy the Motorola Razr today, I want to futureproof it for at least a YEAR. And because of "fragmentation", that's not possible.

seriosuly. I haven't read the article but I'm assuming she at least mentioned how he denied paternity for years.

Last I checked, The New Yorker doesn't speak for all of New York's cartoonists.

Oh so Google is now like Microsoft circa 2000? MS learned their lesson, I wonder if Google will too.

I'm waiting to see the Nokia WP7s before I make a decision. Otherwise I may go to iPhone.

I have an HTC Incredible and actually can't wait to get rid of it lol.

I imagine come Nokia World Oct 25-26 we'll hear of something. At the very least if there's a CDMA model for display you can bet it'll come to Verizon and/or Sprint.

Well there's a strong rumor that there will be a high-range Nokia WP7 device on Verizon in 2012. From what I understand Nokia is working hard to be on all the carriers. And Mango doesn't need dual cores. Save that for the Apollo update.

Well, with all the patent issues surrounding Android that may change soon enough. And lets not forget how Google kind of burned OEMs with the purchase of Motorola Mobility.

They are definitely changing. You should check out a Mango phone if you can. I'm on Android and I'm more convinced than ever to make the switch.

Make no mistake, Apple is going to sell a gazillion of these. Hell, I'm going to buy one. No question.

Just throwing it out there, the majority of the American-released Windows Phones are also dual CDMA-GSM. And all the apps work on every phone. And the software is optimized to the hardware.
