Recalls aside, it’s typically catastrophic damage to a system or component that causes an ICE to burn, or poor maintenance. When an electric car goes up for no apparent reason, it’s worrisome and concerning if the manufacturer doesn’t jump on it because it’s outside of the driver’s ability to de-risk through

Huh. Looks like my first post was repressed. That’s pretty fucked up, Lawrence and Jalopnik.

Lawrence, you had a great opportunity to investigate this story, but instead you wrote a short piece with little depth. For some reason you focused on attacking California based on a list of items in a paragraph that you didn’t investigate. Writing a list of assumptions in a single paragraph just opens up the

I’d love to see a list of the hydrocarbons that typically make up 87, 89, 91, 93 octane fuels, and how those hydrocarbons break down over time. I searched for a bit, but couldn’t find any studies on the subject. My expectation is that gasoline is mostly C8H16, and that it is a pretty stable hydrocarbon.

How’d my 2005 Triumph Sprint ST sit still with 87 octane fuel for 8 months and drive perfectly when I started it? I call bollocks on the fuel being seriously degraded. I’ve driven cars with 10-year old fuel too. It still operates the engine just fine.

Oh, come on. You know that’s a silly take. There are plenty of people who need a car for various reasons and most cities don’t have sufficient and affordable off-street parking to support the locals.

OMFG!!! I’ve trumpeted how bad these products are on this website for years now. Felt like I was yelling down a dark hole. Well, I really was, but at least some people with authority are doing something about it. These self-driving, glorified roombas high on inhaling a fresh dose of human shit off the sidewalk need to

Why are you joking about her deathHer children and husband lost their mother/wife. Your comment reduces her to a simple punchline, but she was still a person.

Just enforcing existing laws would be helpful. My college roommate crashed a mother of four directly into a massive oak tree one night. My roommate drove home after leaving the scene of the accident and cried loudly enough to wake me up. I had her go back to the scene, then spent the night getting her bailed out of

No need to be so aggressive. Also, read my other response. Not everyone in this entire country is in financial straights regarding housing as I am... and it sounds like you are.

Yeah. Most people I know bought years ago and pay a fraction of what I pay. Do you think the entire country bought their house in the last three years?

I completely agree about not stretching finances with a high monthly auto loan. However, $1000/mth isn’t as crazy a number as it used to be. Monthly housing prices for many are not very high, and many salaries can easily support that type of payment, so it’s not too much of a pinch for many people to commit to that

While you’re right about how our eyes work, the author makes a good point about this knowledge not being available when the signs guidance was originally created. Here’s more information on why we are so good at seeing green. We only have three color sensors in our eyes (a small percentage of people have four), and

There’s a Corvette swap available, but it’s pricey and not staying on brand (good gawd, I actually wrote that). I’d love to figure out a Cayman PDK swap though.

Wow! The S80 came with a V8?

I wish my brown 2017 V90 CC wagon came with a manual. Also, while manuals were available on the 928s, I wish my 1982 928S had a modern manual.

Victoria, this is a great post! Please keep them coming.

The first engine design I was involved with at GE Energy used compressor designs from the SR71 engine. It was cool to see that design live on in an 80,000 HP gas turbine! BTW, that’s how much power was required to start our largest engine, the 9H gas turbine. Those machines are incredible!

It appears you’re projecting your personality on that yacht owner.

Andy, this is a disgusting take that is completely lacking in empathy. I’m disappointed in you for writing this.
