I’m sure that’s the case for low mileage cars. However, I think that well-maintained and driven cars are a safer bet. Mileage isn’t such an issue for these cars either.

What about the obvious answer? A Porsche 944S2 convertible! There are plenty of beautiful examples out there, and they are actually increasing in value. Maintenance isn’t really bad either as long as the PO kept up on it.

Yes, that’s it. They had 100% clairvoyance, and are now taking “favors”. You nailed it.

Or, it takes a while for the impact of those laws to manifest, and people are starting to react now that this issue is becoming common knowledge.

I like making my own decisions, and I like driving my own car, and I do NOT like waiting for @$$hole LYFT and UBER drivers who stop in the middle of the street, or intersection, or in the middle of a u-turn so that they can figure out the best way to their next fare.

I can see it now. Entire auto manufacturing supply chains unionize up to the CEO and strike against the President.

I’ve had them as reliable as a stone, and as miserable as poison ivy. Brand new points don’t always work, and brand new condensers don’t always, at least for the Honda motorcycles I’ve restored. On the flip side, I do love mechanical systems!

Is that a 300MPH-rated roll cage?

I hear you on simplicity, but the amount of hassle I’ve had with points on old machines hasn’t been worth it. Every conversion I’ve made to newer ignition has resulted in more reliable starts, better running, and generally less stinky exhaust. If you have a straight forward conversion, then I’d go for it. If not, then

I’ll have to look into going to a High Energy Ignition system, which has the coil built in, and would let me ditch my ignition module, which—based on what I’ve read online—has a tendency to fail.”

Yes they can! Need more Porsche rally pics from the Jalaponik vaults. Preferably 924, 928, and 944.

Get your weight off your handlebars!

My god! I bet you could get 400 miles out of that tank off road. Start in northern CA and stop in southern WA without ever sitting down.

STOP with the front brake myth!! Locking the front tire doesn’t mean you lose all stability!!!

I love the look of classic cars, and how they feel to drive. However, crash safety makes me want to drive newer cars exclusively.

Looks like a 1960s Honda motorcycle transmission to me, but with clutches instead of shift dogs. Well, some compounding gears too. I think it’s an impressive feat considering the performance numbers it handles, although I wonder about gear lash.

No doors? It’s shaped like a doorstop and it doesn’t have doors?! Paulo Martin had a sense of humor.

These pics are incredible! I worked in Heat Transfer and Secondary Flows at GE Gas Turbines for 5 years and just eat this stuff up. It’s a treat to use that second language you have to learn for HTSF! David, I didn’t realize you worked in the auto equivalent.

“For months, they had been directed to have customers buy cars themselves through the Tesla website, even if they’re sitting right next to them in the store.”

3 years, and 68,000 miles. Subtract one year for him to unbox it and that’s 34,000 miles per year!
