Having been good friends with a group of Caps fans for my entire adult life, I can tell you with certainty that they are unparalleled when it comes to torturing their own fanbase by bombing out in the playoffs each year, often in new, terrible, and entirely excruciating ways.

My Yinzer wife was wondering if the Pens are the Patriots of hockey, and if so that makes Sid the Tom Brady. I don’t think that’s quite the right analogy, but I took it since I couldn’t pass up that burn.

Somehow the Caps will find a way to make it more excruciating, like losing in over time in a deciding game seventeen or something.

Damn. After the initial shock of hearing about stuff like this, I always end up thinking about the INSANE number of things that need to work precisely right just to keep my body breathing air. The system is just so impossibly complex, it’s really incredible we can exist in the first place.
