I used to do work like this. we had a guy at the docks that would call when a container ship full of TV/VCR combos would come in, he would tell me what truck and what highway it was on
Ah, so the oil comes from outside the environment.
I see how solar might be more expensive, but I fail to see how this is a net zero operation. How does the oil get to the charge point for one.
If they are unwilling to do that they could potentially give him a car worth $10,000 and it would also be satisfactory. Perhaps a certain 2016 Mazda CX-5.
And while the dealer is trying to make it right for Fredricks, he’s still out of $10,000 and a car.
AND the theater shooter deserves more than the minimum, so let's evaluate the crime and determine the punishment there instead of putting an arbitrary minimum that can add up quickly like this when that is not really what is intended.
In fairness, this is why any _real_, official road sign has an icon, not just words, so that they are language independent (this is why stop is a red octagon and yield a red triangle, for example, despite both having words on them). The problem is that many special cases like this don’t have standard iconography to…

What if the thief realized the error of their ways and completely turned their life around?
Strongly agree. Then criminals may have killed a person and that would be horrible. This way the cops killed a person and we all know that’s totally fine.
I don’t expect it to make calls, sms or use data, since those all require a service plan. BUT I do still expect it to work as a small tablet, since that doesn’t require anything from the carrier.
Using your analogy, the OEMs are Apple, Samsung, etc. and the AT&T, VZ etc is the service provider.
For vehicls, the OEMs are…
1st Gear: I’ll never drive a car I have to pay a subscription fee to utilize. Full stop, won’t do it. If this catches on in the industry and that means I won’t drive a car manufactured after 2025, or I stick exclusively to budget niche cars going forward, fine. But I flatly refuse to pay an ongoing subscription on my…
