Incorporated in Deleware and still having a massive operation in California,... they’re not avoiding many taxes. And Musk doesn’t pay a significant amount of taxes. Property taxes are high in Texas though, so he’s got that going for him.

Traffic in Austin is a shit show as well.

I have subscriptions that I keep all the time, I have other subscriptions that I sign up for only when I need them.

Yet car companies have needed planned obsolescence to remain profitable

Rich family, small town Texas (or any state, probably)... They’re probably very well known and influential in the community.

Way to go Virginia for attempting to take action on a scenario that has been a problem literally everywhere in the world since time immemorial...

It was obviously one of her fans, I don’t think there’s anything actually linking her to that. Realistically, her opponent may have stuck it out if he though he had a chance of winning, but he didn’t.

They are a poisonous mix of bigots, proudly ignorant, corporate pirates, general tantrumers, and fucking objectivists.

Both of those takes are true, but this was poorly implemented just in time. Toyota lasted much longer before having issues because they kept more long lead time parts on hand...

Its not as if that's a problem that hasn't been solved before.

Yeah it’s fine if you manage it well. If you have the last pile of those parts available, you have a pretty good idea how much runway you have left.

To be fair, the problem is poorly planned and executed JIT inventory. If a part has a long lead time, you're supposed to keep more on hand and maybe don't cancel orders so quickly.

Auto makers don’t want to spend the money to do something boring like make their supply chains more robust when they can do something sexy like increase executive compensation or buy back stock instead.

Manufacturing capacity for chips is booked far in advance. When the pandemic hit, auto makers assumed that demand would fall drastically (reasonable) and canceled most of their orders for parts and therefore the chips (not reasonable). Demand didn’t drop. The manufacturing capacity was sold to other customers... Its

My theory is that he got his dick knocked in the dirt by Donny for providing a viable alternative for 2024 and thereby hurting the former Presidents fundraising/cash machine.

If he did the rolling coal thing multiple times he deserve some jailtime.

I wonder if they impounded the truck to figure out if it had modifications made to it that would make “rolling coal” easier. I’ve also read that he was reaching for his phone or on his phone to call his dad when the incident happened (which is illegal in Texas for a driver his age) and that he pulled over and called

On the one hand, the laws that try to break down what guns are so dangerous that they need special registration are kind of stupid...
