Is that really "winning"?

Yeah, my strobe set-up is 4000 ws in addition to nearly 10,000 watts of 5600k daylight CFLs and it still takes 15-20 seconds

The not smiling thing was based in 3 factors. 1, they were emulating the old oil-painting portraits. 2, the exposure times can be over 10 seconds, depending on the lighting conditions, and trying to hold an expression that long is very difficult. 3, Dental hygiene has vastly improved since that era.

The ISO is roughly .5 to .75. I have a cople of those headrests myself. The sitting times vary depending on you chemistry and the available UV light. In my studio it takes 15-20 seconds and on a bright day outside, 3-4 seconds.

I went there last year and it was great. My favorite images were the Autochrome Lumiere. The original camera owned by Louis Daguerre was pretty awesome, too.

Ok, let's dispense with the bogus idea that portraits done with either Daguerreotypes or the wet-plate process took minutes. It didn't and still doesn't. How do I know? Because I practice this type of photography.
