Yeah, that’s kind of the whole point. The Addams never inflict harm on non-Addams in any meaningful way unless they’re abject horrors (like a serial killer). It’s a really aggressive misunderstanding of the whole Addams appeal.

As others have pointed out, the whole appeal of the Addams family is, despite their appearance and interests, the Addamses are more gracious, open-minded, and well-adjusted than any “normal” suburban nuclear family. Wednesday wouldn’t be above scaring the hell out of a water polo team, but attempted mass murder…

Yeah, it shifts Wednesday away from being an edgy, disaffected teenager (who kills people) to being a genuine murderous psychopath (who is an edgy teenager). There are situations where that kind of comedy works, but it’s explicitly not what The Addams Family is all about.

Addams were a nice loving family. The violence is off putting. A dong bitten off in the first trailer? Piranha 3D already did that. Be more creative.
