What I really liked about Sinister is that they subverted the “why don’t they just leave?” not once but twice. At first they don’t leave bc the dad is a selfish jerk who sees only dollar signs. Second, them finally leaving is what really cooks their goose. 

Host is a tight creepy little movie that I absolutely recommend. I don’t know about it being the “scariest” but I enjoyed it.
