Except people do get government subsidized loans all the time. Almost every mortgage is aided by the govt. Plus have you heard of government bonds? The government legally can't do do business type stufd, so taxes, loans, and bonds are just about their only way of making money.

Thats basically ALL businesses. Almost no business turns a profit for at LEAST 3 years. Often it take 5-10 years to start turning a profit. Hence yhe expression "it takes money to make money".

It’s a hybrid form of government - a klepto-kakistocracy.

While I don’t agree with his take, I do find it crazy that a public company can get a gov loan for $6bn ($600mm is capitalized interest), so $6.6bn total. But when I get a house or car loan I am paying way more than 10% total interest over the life of the loan.

I remember when people could actually read, and see that an article about cars is uh...about cars instead of getting pissy because their dumbass buddy looks bad for doing dumbass stuff.

Well, someone decided to dip their toe into things they didn’t know about and made the automotive world political. And judging from the comments, not many have “gone away”. Have a good day, though.

Wonder what kind of subsidies (money actually “forked out”) Tesla has gotten...

Before our eyes, a kakistocracy is forming, with elements of the Peter Principle gratuitously applied.

Man oh man.. If rammy swammy is this upset about RIVIAN, he will really blow a gasket once he find out how much money his friend Elon has received from uncle Sam paid directly to Tesla and SpaceX... hypocrites..

Amazing how many of the maga dirtbags are immigrants (or children of immigrants). It’s the “we got ours now let’s keep everyone else from getting theirs”. I once lived in a town where the town fathers came to that attitude and stopped all growth (we got ours now let’s stop everyone else from getting theirs). The

This is yet another example of how the GOP functions: severely underfund the education system so everyone is too dumb to understand basic concepts like loans, combined with declaring anything they don’t agree with is a lie, so they can say literally whatever dumb thing they want and their idiot base will swallow it.

G*d I hate these tech bro types. This guy is like the (in Musk speak) “super hard core annoying” high-school class president we all couldn’t wait to get far away from.

Politicians intuitively understand that most people respond to emotional triggers, not facts or accurate wording. The goal isn’t good governance as much as driving attention (through anger) and they employ very talented people / teams to write things like this. Let’s break it down...

It no longer matters that Trump and his cabinet have the debating skills of Brick Tamland: they’ll just make a bunch of angry grunting sounds and their moronic masses will just say “ d E r P, YEAH!” and cheer them on.

Maybe someone should remind Vivek about Trump’s 2017 Foxconn deal and have him examine how that worked out for taxpayers

DT acolytes: Tariffs for Mexicali autos, cuz dammit buid ‘em here!”

Thinking that Tesla, a company that essentially exists because of government subsidies, grants, and tax breaks, largely for things that didn’t come to fruition, should take issue with another company being given a loan is peak Doublespeak.

His comment about Tesla highlights the massive conflict of interest Musk has. No CEO should be in government, much less the world’s richest, with lucrative government contracts.

MAGA folks: “Build cars in America!”

I vote for he knows he’s lying and doesn’t care.
