I was once on a plane where the person at the exit row window got in an argument with a flight attendant as to whether he should throw the window out or place it on the seat (he argued for the former). He backed down when the FA threatened to re-seat him but for the remainder of the flight told me and anyone else who

Well, she was right- you can’t save someone on a plane that you’ve just been kicked off of!

I enjoy the leg room, but I am actually anxious when sitting in those rows.  I study the cards and other instructions and visualize what I’m going to do in an emergency.  I don’t want to be the dumbass who fucks it up and gets people killed.

Yeah, I’ve heard that the experience of flying Spirit isn’t that bad, people just hate how everything is monetized. But the whole reason I would choose something like Spirit is if I knew I didn’t have to check in any luggage. I typically sleep through the flights, so I don’t need any pretzels or a tiny cup of Sprite.

THIS!! This is the insane part! To her, and all the people saying “I’m not gonna be a hero either, but I’m not gonna say that!”, literally all they’re asking is if you are willing and able to open the fucking door and get off the plane. Nobody’s asking you to save anyone. Unless you’re planning on opening the door,

Well I would say if the rest of the passengers are pushing and shoving in the aisle and not letting a mother and child take their turn, then why not let them climb over? If people are being considerate, then climbing over is actually more difficult than just walking around the seats.

I mean it’s not even about saving anybody or indifference murder. What the exit row seat requires is that you are physically able and mentally willing to open the door and get out of the plane before anybody else. She had the only seat that was designed for what she wanted: “save herself and not give a fuck about

The way to help others is to open the door and LEAVE.’ (emphasis mine)

Isn’t this just Sovereign Citizenship, but in another guise?

I had to do an emergency evacuation once. It was actually a pretty calm affair. But the airplane was not on fire (though the possibility was real - landing gear collapse on a 727 turning off the runway). I suspect that in a SERIOUS emergency, I would do the same as you. But I too would never say that on an airplane.

A friend, who can afford to fly in First on any airline, came to see me on Spirit a few months ago. I said, “Geez, was Greyhound full?” They just had a schedule that fit and, as he’s not a drunk, he had a decent flight.

Assist in opening the emergency door. Where has it ever said you’re responsible for saving anyone or anything when assigned an exit row seat? And if Window Wendy can’t figure it out within a few milliseconds during an emergency, I’m stepping over her to get that door opened.

How is she supposed to save only herself? That emergency door doesn’t lock from the outside. Open it and go through to save yourself and that remains an open exit for everyone.

No sarcasm here: This is literally offered as work benefit for me. I don’t take advantage of it, but yeah, for some amount of money I don’t recall taken out of my check every 2 weeks, I get lawyer services. They advertise it as comprehensive, from traffic tickets, to estate planning to criminal defense.

The best part was that guy she hit was a million mile passenger. It was his Million Mile flight, and his birthday!

Sure, just add to the charge of battery. Some people are too dumb to believe.

When your airline offers $39 flights, you’re going to get the flying public who thinks Southwest is too snobbish for their blood.  And this is what you’re going to get.  I’d rather drive the I-95 corridor on 4th of July weekend than sit on a Frontier flight at any time.  There are more than enough YouTube videos out

Dumb question since I usually avoid the exit row when booking flights (not because I’m a sociopath, but ‘cause I’m a bit fat and having the tray table fold out from the seat armrest as opposed to the seatback in front of me is a little inconvenient), but when you book a flight online in an exit row, are you notified

As she was unwilling to help others off of the plane, others decided to help her off the plane.

“Let’s layoff all the flight attendants and bring a bunch of guns on board” can only help things.
