And they still haven’t come clean with Paige about how they met or the original terms of their “marriage.”

No decent human being, much less a loving mother, would ask her daughter to enter that life. Paige has no idea what she’s signing up for. “Taking risks” and “doing dangerous things” still don’t conjure up the visual of chopping someone’s head and hands off, or of the many other horrible things her parents have done

This. There is no way that illegals would continue living across the street from an FBI agent, much less allow their families to become close. That situation has called for an enormous suspension of disbelief all these years. But because of the otherwise incredible storytelling, writing and acting, I allow myself to

Well, that just ruined Simmons for me. (Simmons the person. The Terror is a freaking masterpiece.)

Another theory: undertreated mental illness. Bipolar and off his meds.

Stan’s patriotic soliloquy made me squirmingly aware, once again, of the humiliation and anger he will feel when the Jennings are revealed to be illegals. Renee, too, must be some kind of spy. I’m wondering if the ending won’t involve him killing Philip and Elizabeth and then himself.

Paige’s jeans. Baggy denim bunched into boots. I lived through that shit, seeing it onscreen was rough, really rough.

My heart breaks for Paige. She has done all of this to win her mother’s love and admiration.

Absolutely. And all the while he has had a very close relationship with Stan, so him revealing these things to Stan will come naturally.

That was a super low blow. And her crude remark about Philip not getting enough at home was not even accurate, given that she had (very transparently) seduced him as a way of getting him to agree to the Greece/Bulgaria plot.

You could tell she was holding it back.

You’re right. I kind of think the “act cold all the time” thing was discarded along with weather-appropriate clothing.

I think they just agreed, for the sake of being able to see the actors, to be inaccurate about dress in that climate. They would have to be bundled from head to toe at all times.

Thank you for giving this horrific show its due (I can’t believe it is being so overlooked), including the freaky music in that one scene. I’ve never noticed Adam Nagaitis in other roles before, but hell if he isn’t shaping up to be one of TV’s best villains ever.

I think of Delos as Greek.

It must hurt to be that beautiful. (Random observation, but it must be said.)

And Zahn McClarnon!!! (Hansee from Fargo II and Mathias from Longmire.) Between him and Tucker and Mullan I’m in character actor heaven.

Michelle expressed our righteous anger, and thank god someone finally had the nuts to do it. Trump and the Republicans don’t need “fodder,” they incite hatred with no grounds whatsoever. Anyone who cares about our democracy needs to speak truth to power NOW, and if it makes Trump & Co. squirm, so much the better.

If Earn is so bad at his job, how is it that everyone, everywhere, recognizes Paper Boi, no matter how unlikely the situation or circumstances?

It is possible to love both the series and the book. Read it! It’s different enough from the series to hold one’s interest. I am also astounded at Simmons’ ability to so viscerally create that time and place. He is a master.
