As long as “autonomous” cars require HD maps to cross reference with what they see, they aren’t really autonomous, they are just slot cars on digital tracks. They need to see and react to their surroundings in real time, not rely on database updates on construction, etc. No thanks.

Chinese culture and humor are different from ours.

Are you just looking for any reason to shit on Uber? These are privately owned vehicles. I’m amazed that any of them have provisions for handicap access. Also, the world doesn’t revolve around people with special needs and it doesn’t owe them anything. It’s your job to adapt to the world and not the other way

Well because natural gas is so cheap. If oil gets really cheap from lack of demand they might start burning more of it. Hell I bet they would burn just about anything is it was cheap enough and met pollution standards

Why are the oil companies worried? We’ll need that oil to power all the electric plants to charge all those electric cars. You think a microwave uses power? Try 50 electric cars in one neighborhood.

Don’t mistake this for defending the MTA or anything because I have no desire to do that, but this particular survey seems to uncover an issue with societal perceptions more than anything else. There are plenty of shit highways that back up both predictably and unpredictably, affecting people’s commutes. I-195 used

Those neighbors are awfully righteous for people whose fences are made out of dildos.

Well, you said you just bought the car for the weekends, so I’d imagine taking a train to your garage once a week would still be a lot less stressful than the daily battle.

Oh, what a giveaway!

Here’s where I stand on it: If he hadn’t broken into her car, she would not have tried to run him over. Unless you can convince me that she had been searching out someone to run over prior to that, then in my view, this guy’s fate was completely his own making.

Saw it on the news earlier. Agreed, you can’t just run someone down with a 2-ton machine because of petty theft, but emotionally I’m with her 100%. Hopefully she has a lenient judge.

Interesting. You’ve got to give them credit for coming up with something this dodgy.

This is nice, but three miles is nothing. Why must we keep lowering the bar on EVERYTHING?

I’m not sure how this necessarily makes sense. The key word I see here is “illegal” immigrants. I have no problem with people who want to immigrate to the US. I have a problem with people bypassing the system and taking advantage of government resources without the government knowing they are here. Does any other

Imagine how terrible of a driver you have to be to 1) react to a biker kicking your car at highway speeds, 2) try to engage a retaliatory attempt to take the biker out, and 3) to then lose control of the vehicle over something that was so inconsequential and not worth reacting to.

I don’t know if I agree with Toyota’s conclusions here (though their conclusions are probably rooted wanting to lay the ground for them to leave the sport).

My 2005 Ram 2500 Hemi calls for 89 Octane, as I imagine many other Chrysler vehicles with a 5.7 Hemi do. It runs fine on 87 but I stick with 89 when I’m towing or working the truck hard.

Man, Kobayashi must be wanting to kill himself right now.

“Yeah, but they’re foreigners, so it’s not OK.”

Human rights in China are not going to be solved or hurt by an effort to send people to the Moon. Sending people to the moon however might help jump start industries in China that will produce jobs that will resuce income inequality, help develop technologies that could reduce pollution and put pressure on the
