I’ve been really sidetracked with personal stuff and haven’t had a lot of time to read, but I’m just starting on My Heart is a Chainsaw by Stephen Graham Jones. I really hope it’s as good as The Only Good Indians, but not much is, so I’m keeping expectations in check.

It has almost no gore at all. If tension and ambience are what you’re looking for, it has that in spades. It’s one of the finest horror films ever made.

I feel that “I Know What You Did Last Summer, Season 1" is being awfully optimistic.

For me, it wasn’t so much the difficulty, but the way it was difficult. Everything felt so sluggish. The bland medieval fantasy setting really didn’t help matters either. I don’t feel there’s very much hope in the long term. Republicans have been very busy installing anti-voting rights laws in every state they can get away with, while the Democrats twiddle their thumbs and refuse to pass any laws to stop them. Fascism is coming to this country. It’s already here, for the most part.

It will eventually work. In time, and I suspect sooner rather than later, the US will be a fascist nation. We’re most of the way there already.

Are we sure it’s unintentional? That “Elliot gets locked up for a few hours” episode is pretty wild.
