Yeah, I reread the book about a month ago and then watched the miniseries. It was incredible how rushed the miniseries was at 4 hours, and how much junk had to be cut out of it which completely destroyed all character relationships, all menace of the antagonists and much of the general plot effectiveness. There's no

Yeah, I think he has HBO confused with his friendly local torrent site, and who knows where his money's been going.

Seriously, that awful "chunk" noise as the trowel stabs into her stomach has been seared into my brain since the first time I saw that movie. I can't imagine how you could misinterpret it that badly, unless they just haven't seen the movie.

That's one of the few things that would make me watch this.

Yeah, the ending is absolutely beautiful, it really makes the film. I would easily rate this as one of the best horror films of all time, not just since 2000.

The Orphanage is possibly my favorite horror film this side of Let the Right One In, but I can't say I have followed his career since. Was "The Impossible" interesting/did it feel like a product of the same director? What about this upcoming monster movie? I can't really imagine JW2 having anything to do with the

Just watch "The Last Dinosaur" and you'll never want to see another one.

Yeah, as fun as it might be to get really self-righteous and rage about everything that can possibly be read as "problematic," it's really just not there in this article. It's a very bad article, but I don't think it actually contains any malice towards Naomi Watts, it's just like they ran a regular news article

I thought the drug trip (slo-mo) scenes were supposed to be a great use of 3D, but I have never seen it in 3D so I can't comment. I just remember that coming up in a bunch of the reviews I read.

I don't recall thinkpieces when the same criticisms were leveled at Adam Sandler (deservedly so).

The only ones that work with alternate language tracks only are the ones Toho dubbed themselves (most of the later 60s and 70s movies, ex the versions of Hedorah and Destroy All Monsters that are on disc).

Haha. I like your Trump description, but I thought that most of the GOP HATED Ted Cruz and were only going with him now cause they hate him slightly less than Trump.

So Cruz trained Trump and is hiding in the shadows controlling him?

We sure have talked a lot about how people don't talk about Avatar on this site.

I can understand calling Avatar a retread of Dances with Wolves or Ferngully or Man Called Horse or whatever, but a retread of Aliens?! I would love to see the point-by-point on that one!

As a rule, the Japanese version looks better on all of the discs, they always compressed the American versions more in fitting them both on the same disc. Godzilla Raids Again is about on par with the Gojira discs, which weren't really that good (especially compared to Criterion's later restoration). Mothra Vs

Yeah, all the widescreen ones are anamorphic. It's a good set. They even have some bonus features. The transfers are a bit muddy, but they're more than watchable. Certainly better than paying the 60+ dollars a movie to import the non-subtitled, non-english-language-tracked Toho releases! I think there are German

I also hated Final Wars the two times I watched it. That vomitous yellow haze all over everything and the fact that the director clearly wanted to be making a Matrix rip-off instead of a Godzilla film really sunk it. I am all for idiotic Godzilla films (I love Gigan and Megalon), but this was just boring. Every

The DVD of "Beast from 20,000 Fathoms" had an interview with the two of them about their friendship on it and it was about the most adorable thing I've ever seen. It was carried over to the new blu-ray as well.

That gyaos fight scene in 3 and the Iris shots under that huge reflective roof are still the best in any of those Japanese flicks, IMO. I love that trilogy. 2 is the most entertaining, but 3 is the most ambitious. They're easily better than any of the Godzilla films since Godzilla Vs Mothra 64.
