Actually, a lot of frozen fish you get inland is fresher than non-frozen fish you would get by the ocean. The reason is is that it is cleaned and then flash-frozen in the ship and remains that way until it gets to the restaurant. Some of the unfrozen seafood you get in fish markets has sat for a couple days in a

Pterosaurs just aren't as well known as they should be. They were super interesting. :) There aren't many good pterosaur books out there; most are based on outdated scientific knowledge.

By the end of the Cretaceous period, pterosaurs mostly consisted of the giant azdharchids like Quetzalcoatlus, which stood about as tall as a giraffe. They lived a lot like marabou storks do today; walking around and eating whatever small things they encountered. No pterosaur was primarily a glider. They were all very

When I was around 10-11, I went to a pool with my dad and he tried to make me wear a lifejacket and I would have none of it. I certainly wouldn't have worn a headband like that. I was mad because he didn't trust me to be able to swim on my own. I had had tons of lessons. Sometimes parents just need to trust their

I know! I had heat exhaustion a couple times from an old job that was about 40C where I worked and we were expected to wear heavy uniforms too with no air conditioning. I had had heat exhaustion before and knew what to do. I didn't feel like sitting in a medi-centre for several hours for a doctor to tell me to lie

I worked in a cafe/bakery that could be quite bad about letting sick/hurt employees get enough time off to heal.

Primary feathers on the wings at anchored to the bone. You can see scars on their ulnas I believe..

Only rural Alberta. The cities are generally full of normal people. Rural Alberta can be some scary ass place though, depending on the town.

Walking through the part?

I believe that modern crocodiles represent a more primitive method of locomotion. Back in the Mesozoic there were fully erect crocodilians that could gallop. Modern crocodilians have a more conservative body plan with less of the extreme variations that used to exist. Galloping crocs couldn't compete with mammals.

Not all fondant is gross. We make our own fondant a the bakery I work at out of marshmallows. Tasty, but sweet. Store bought fondant is gross, which is what 99% of bakeries use.

Ah... Royal icing. The glue of the baking world.

No. Pterosaurs were cousins to dinosaurs and so, to birds. They were no more closely related than crocodiles are to birds. This one certainly could rival the size of pterosaurs though! :)

Oh god lol... Drives me nuts when people call them dinosaurs!

Some of the large azdharchid pterosaurs had larger wingspans. They also probably took off in a novel way.

Woohoo!

This looks like it was taken in Acme Meat Market. Love that place!

It is a composite photo. The arm with the camera was edited out.

Those glasses are back... *shudders*

I got to meet him once when he was doing a talk at the local university. He is a delightful man.
