I am loving THE RETURN so far. That said, I do think it is very easy to sympathize with folks who can't stand the slow plotting and lack of true Agent Cooper. It may very well turn out that the goodwill I'm giving the show will not pay off and it'll turn into a shitshow. We'll just see.

Correct. In one movie, Cooper played an overly aggressive/stand-off-ish and remarkably accurate violent marksman raising an obviously fake child. In the other, he played Rocket.

Out of all the phenomenal actors that have given phenomenal performances in Lynch's work - whether 5 minutes' worth or 5 hours' worth - I think Naomi Watts comes in just ahead of everybody else in all-around Lynchiness. Literally every. single. syllable. and nonverbal behavior in THE RETURN and MULHOLLAND DRIVE…

It is notable to me, and I (at least) never see it pointed out, that almost every iteration of the TWIN PEAKS story has utilized a different kind of medium each time.
