I can promise there were hotel rooms, just not ones in the United network that they have discount rates for. He could have booked one himself and demanded United pay it back, or use his credit card’s flight delay insurance to cover it (if he had a good travel card).

I imagine people from CT driving down to NYC for a night out on the town and trying to get home. That Uber would be hundreds of dollars and Metro North stops running at 2AM

The M5, RS7, S63 and a few other major players will still be V8 sedans, but it will definitely be the only NA V8 on the market in the US. That alone is a feat.

You’d be able to do the DC - Charlotte drive with just one charge. A little longer, but a lot cheaper. So it should come down to whichever car you like better. The Prius will hold its value better, cheaper to service, more reliable. The Polestar will be more luxurious and fun. I’d pick based on your priorities beyond

I watched a video this week about a car that screamed ‘reliablility nightmare’ to me and I could not remember which one it was. This was it! I will also nominate the upcoming C63 AMG which has the same engine, boosted even more, with a PHEV battery. Nightmare package.

Sounds like you should buy a 4Runner or Chevy Express before they’re gone!

If you want to get technical, they’re a hybrid with a plug (hence the name), not an electric vehicle with a gas engine. Huge difference.

If you’re a regular person who landed here by googling “Cars that will last 250k miles” please know that THIS LIST IS A JOKE. Other than 2 or 3 of these cars, do NOT buy these thinking they’re actually reliable. It’s inside humor here.

In my mind, their only decent vehicles are their oldest. The Q50 and QX80. Only because the Q50 is a proper RWD sport sedan and the QX80 is an affordable alternative to the Lexus LX.

Most people with TTP (precheck) already know exactly what to do and could handle this new process just fine. But the unwashed masses in the regular security line? This would be pure chaos.

Sorry to burst their bubble, but anyone shopping at AutoZone probably doesn’t have much credit to steal.

It’s completely uncompetitive in the civilian market with the likes of Highlander hybrids. But since the cops are buying the explorer anyway, this makes sense for their use case.

There are affordable EVs. The Bolt costs under $20k after the tax credit ($27k - $7500). That makes it one of 6 new cars under $20k in the US, and its significantly better equipped and larger than any other sub-$20k penalty box like the Mirage or Venue.

BMW Active Hybrid X6 was a true rarity. Used the same “Dual Mode” hybrid system developed by GM for the Tahoe and Aspen hybrids. But in the X6 it was paired with BMW’s notoriously unreliable twin turbo V8. Built during the dark days of BMW reliability it was truly a nightmare to own. Servicing it actually wasn’t

And they still don’t ride well at all. I had a rental Chevy Trax (the new one) this weekend and then drove my friend’s brand new Wrangler Sahara and it rode like garbage and handled like junk compared to the cheap-ass little Trax.

Article says the interest was 14% on the Charger. So he probably ended up financing 100% of the principal, taxes, registration fees, bullshit dealer extras, etc.

Even that fit was too much. Financing a Mirage or Versa at $16k would have been the right choice for him.

Carlos Ghosn era Nissan cutting corners? Shocking!

It was dumb of him to say that, but unfortunately that’s exactly what’s going to happen because of these strikes. Same thing they’ve been doing for decades

This. Exactly. They did zero fact finding and leapt to the most cynical conclusion, which is also the least logical. Financially it makes no sense for Elon to run a mini power plant instead of buying subsidized grid juice for this once charger station.
