“I know nothing about Bolivia but I read a couple of articles in a US based blog about it, so that makes me an expert on daily life and politics in Bolivia. I can speak for the Bolivian people, while ignoring their protests and public uprisings entirely”

Sure. Here’s a few internationally recognized and credible sources to get started.

Oh I am. And not just a supporter, but someone who works in campaign marketing strategy to get progressive (DSA and WFP endorsed) candidates elected in municipal elections in several major cities. It’s my passion and my job - not just some blog I read.

Backing a dictator to stick it to Elon? Bold journalistic endeavor!

Something I’m surprised hasn’t come up in all of Jalopnik’s coverage of the Changi NEMECA is what the “New Energy” part actually means.

It’s always repairs that aren’t worth the cost on otherwise enjoyable cars. For example, take the $4k Audi A6 I bought my boyfriend for him to learn how to drive on. Its a fast, luxurious and very handsome car. But it’s worth very little.

US manufacturers have learned that if you sell cheap cars here, nobody buys them. There are still a few on the market (Chevy Spark, Mitsubishi Mirage, Kia Rio, Nissan Versa), yet nobody buys them. Like, at all.

Yeah I was thinking this. If he’s going to keep it forever he got the right car. Imagine if he had to drive a Dodge Journey forever.

It feels very Brazilian, and idk why

If you say it’s destroyed, they’ll ask for the body back. If you say it’s stolen, they’ll ask for the police report and you won’t be able to title or register it again.

With great credit there are often interest rates that are less than inflation on car loans in uncertain economies. At that point, you’re technically losing value by paying cash, as that money could be working for you as an investment.

The most recent Gen of Camaro SS 1LE is a great choice. Extremely nimble and great for autocross

I’m someone who can afford to finance a new 5 série, s but buys old ones in cash. Here’s the math I did on my current car.

Woof, that's a lot of bad debt. Don't buy another car. That's the last thing you should do. Ride that horrible gladiator lease out and make a smarter choice next time.

We bought a 2005 Audi A6 for $4k as our winter beater with AWD and heated seats. We’ve had several friends comment on “How did you afford that?” while they’re driving some $30k Rogue or Escape or something. Most Joe schmoe’s only see the badge.

In Chicago you definitely felt like it was Mad Max during the “deep quarantine” months (March and April when literally everything was shut down and the streets were empty). Now traffic is as bad or worse than before covid, likely due to people still avoiding public transit. But speeds and recklessness are still way

Without the bearing refresh and 6 speed, this would be a $6k car. Literally a timebomb.

Where does this leave room for the horrid Trax? Is this the replacement? My understanding is the Trailblazer is bigger, cheaper and nicer all around.

This odd in-between size class has always been about being slightly premium compared to the similarly sized compact class (which is getting to be huge these days). Compare these to their smaller siblings and you’ll see that they typically come with bigger engines, more refinement and features.
