I would actually buy this, if it were offered with a 6 speed manual. I need something smaller than a 3 series for my garage, more practical than an M240I, more reliable than a Golf R, and preferably with AWD for chicago winters. I also love the new Mazda design language 

My stance is simple. If the seat behind me is an extra legroom seat (main cabin extra on American), I'll recline. If it's not, I'll respect their space

Let's also add the fact that car models are becoming increasingly expensive. You used to get a Toyota Highlander or Explorer for well under $30k in their previous generations. Both cars grew substantially and became more expensive, even when adjusting for inflation. And nobody wants to move down a class of vehicles

Frankly I’m not petty enough to care if my architect/realtor/etc has a nicer car than mine. I DO care if the architect has good taste. To me, that’s really important. A Volvo is what I want my architect to drive. It’s stylish and restrained - like I want my home to be.
