Sounds like a recent exchange I had. She replied a full month after my 1st message to her, and I wrote back with "Wow. Didn't expect to hear from you, like, ever :)" And then she said this:

I think your straight-forward response is always the best idea. Maybe asking if she's interested and making it clear that you're not going to be offended if she's not. Indirectness drives me nuts. If she's vague again, I'd give up. I'm way out of the game though, good luck!
