When I first got my WRX, they forgot to order the set of snow tires I had requested. The summer tires it came with were pretty terrible in even a light dusting of snow. Snow tires are great though. It is better than my TJ Wrangler in all road conditions except really deep snow.

TIERS?!?!

So Cal resident here, I can confirm I live with idiots. People don’t know how to drive or fully operate/maintain their vehicles on a dry day.

I sold our 2005 Subaru Outback XT Limited to a guy back in Sept 2022 (SW Ohio). I told the guy it came with two sets of wheels and tires (factory 17” wheels with A/S and Forester 16” wheels with Bridgestone Blizzak WS80). In his infinite wisdom he basically told me I wasted my money and wasn’t interested in the other

No, just no. That’s not how snow and ice works. Specially when you pair it with summer tires (all seasons ARE summer tires, nothing else). You will only polish said surface and do nothing to help yourself from sliding.

Repeat after me; 4wd will NOT help you stop.
And for gods sake, get some fucking winter tires. There’s

It’s South Lake Tahoe, so they probably expect it to be warmer :D

Fuckin’ a. Where’s the video of someone pouring the 5Q jug of SuperTech?

Totally capable vehicles with totally inadequate drivers.

I’ve seen enough wrecks on dry asphalt to offer a simplification:

But I have AWD, why would I need snow tires?

I thought it’d be fun to go up to Sibley to see the snow, but I didn’t want to deal with an icy Skyline Blvd.

This post needs the Knallerfrauen gif.

I didn’t watch the video, but I normally pour oil by holding the bottle sideways.

I was thinking the exact same thing. What I fear most is getting T-boned by a red light runner, bonus points if they are in a full-size pickup/killing machine, or getting rear-ended while stopped. Crash avoidance tech - while often laughable in real-world use anyway - does not do squat for me in these situations.

brought back free speech for all

I stopped road riding last year, too. With a deadly combination of angry trumper-bros in giant trucks intentionally trying to harass and run over cyclists and everyone else who just isn’t paying attention to where the hell they’re going, it just wasn’t fun anymore. As much as I love long road rides, it’s not worth

Temporary road course - but I loved turn 1 at the Cleveland Indy at Lakefront Airport.

Riverside had it all. Road course could be configured different ways. 1/4 or 1/2 mile drag strip. Oval that was 3/8 of a mile I think. I saw pavement sprint cars on it once. Pretty boring compared to watching them on dirt. Speaking of dirt it also hosted Mickey Thompson’s Off-Road World Championships. I raced in it

I sold my road bikes several years ago. Even the bike paths are dangerous now with the crazed e-bikers on full throttle. I stick to dirt and snow. If I crash on a boulder that’s on me.

Bridgehampton is my first thought,  followed by Ontario Motor Speedway
