I think what’s going on with Jim Carrey is that he’s always been a sensitive and intelligent guy and his girlfriend killed herself recently and, much to his credit, he responded with sincere self-reflection as opposed to any of the wide variety of unhealthy coping mechanisms one uses to deal with grief.

I’m not sure what he’s referencing in specific, but psychologists have done multiple studies on how knowingly being observed by other humans changes human behavior, and it definitely does, so his conclusion is basically correct regardless of how he reached it.

For instance, think about how differently one might act

Why do people think something is “wrong” or “going on” with Jim Carey? Is it because he doesn’t want to be pigeonholed into being a jackass and making shit tones of money for essentially playing a buffoon his whole career?

Kevin French in 2018 is still living in the neighborhood; he lucked into picking up Andy Jim and Posey’s rent controlled lease but he’s in danger of losing it.  He’s working half shifts at both a Starbucks and a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf analogue in between various app-based gig economy jobs.

A Mission Hill reboot where the formerly cool neighborhood is nothing but Lululemon stores and fucking gourmet doughnut shops.

My favorite bit from the whole show was when The Real World was filming in Mission Hill and the one guy got hit by a bus right before the commercial break. When they come back, it’s shown as The Real World footage of the guy being put into the back of the ambulance with REM’s Everybody Hurts playing.

Second favorite

The mention about how neighborhoods like Mission Hill would be “gentrified out of existence” was spot on, though. A shame the show didn’t continue, because in addition to seeing Andy gradually turning from aspiring dreamer to successful artist to jaded professional, it could’ve also tackled the slow death of bohemian

I loved Mission Hill so much. I remember staying up until stupid o’clock to watch the reruns on Adult Swim back in 2003 or so. The music was also really good.

Honestly if I’m going to eat that many grams of carbs it’s not going to be in a ‘salad’ that’s been sitting in the sun. Barf. Mac and cheese is the only thing that inspire me to pack on the processed carb grams. And the good stuff, three to five cheeses, panko or chips on the top and a good bechamel base - maybe an

Gee, you sound fun.

What a horrible rule. Fruit, pasta, egg, and tuna salads can all be great.

Mission Hill was a gorgeous show with great writing. It’s a wee bit dated now but I’ve recently did a rewatch and it’s crazy how much of it was feeling current. The episode with the non-descript potentially catastrophic world event happening(complete with Dennis Rodman doing peace talks) was way too real. Sometimes

Dude’s style is unquestionably ridiculous and his shtick is grating, but his entire gig on Food Network is driving around and giving free advertising to tiny restaurants, which is kinda awesome when you think about it.

It’s easy to laugh at people who only go to Applebee’s or Fuddrucker’s

The guy is passionate about food, all I care about. Is he an absolute goofball? Sure. Dude pushes local Mom and Pops, which is awesome. That is way more meaningful than a show/host that focuses on restaurants that only a select few will ever get the chance to eat at.

That is his genius.

He seems like an okay guy who just stopped checking in on what was trending in fashion sometime around 2005. “Frosted tips, loud shirts, I know what’s cool, and what’s cool NEVER changes!”

He is currently (or was) feeding 5000 firefighter in California. Such a “douche”

I personally like Flavortown better as hos signature phrase

Ok, now make the rest of this:
