The article is a bit wrong. I listen to this podcast every week and what actually happened was that Gervais mused that it was to protect the legacy, but then Imperioli and Schirripa said it was to keep him at HBO and he was doing The Night Of. I’m assuming they wanted him available for other projects too

he seemed very out of place”

Ya’ll speaking to my soul. 1080p60 from a handheld would have been baller. I skipped Breath of the Wild because I couldn’t handle the framerate issues. I hear Age of Calamity is even worse. I also think that 4K isn’t feasable from a handheld. Maybe with DLSS fuckery or another form of up-scaling.

This 100%, 4K would not be well-utilized by the majority of Switch games, but improved performance at this point would be hugely impactful for me considering the wombo combo of unstable frame rates and long load times. It is killing my desire to buy anything on Switch anymore.

Yeah, I agree with this. One of the main reasons I was hoping for a Switch Pro wasn’t necessarily 4k output, but the technical strength to make 1080p @30fps the stable benchmark across the board, with possibility for 60fps depending on the game. The Switch, in its current state, has trouble running current-gen games

It doesn’t need 4k but when even first party games can’t even do 1080p 30fps, maybe a little boost just to get stable framerate would have been really appreciated.

I’m still sour that a remaster of a Wii game (not WiiU, a Wii game) is still only 720p docked with an unstable framerate. (yes I’m talking about Xenoblade

Divinity Original 2 has a lot of the good stuff from the heyday but modern amenities if you haven’t tried it (i.e. if you’re cool with like, Dragon Age good to go), or if you like weird/unique settings (Twin Peaks-inspired, steampunkish magical realist existential-cynical noir) Disco Elysium.

It also has the problem of not providing many characters that you can really give a fuck about. BG had a colorful cast from quotable doofuses like Jan Jansen and Minsc, tragic figures like Jaheira, Sarevok and Viconia to entertaining bad guys like Edwin and Korgan. PoE has... Eder? My fave was Grieving Mother but she

There is a Day 1 1.02 patch set that just says ‘bug fixes’ for America.

Ouch those graphics look awful. The inflation doesn’t bother me honestly, as giant numbers were always disgaea mainstays. I guess I’ll have to wait on this until it gets ported to the ps4/5

No, it’s just chasm after chasm of time sinks. I’m not complaining, I did like it, but I don’t think I need another.

I had to go find some gameplay on Twitch, because that first screenshot. Woof.

Disagree on Item Attraction. Your character automatically picking up drops might seem like something you can do yourself, until you realize doing it yourself can also really bog you down after every fight just going around trying to pick up all the drops because your character has a very direct pick-up radius.

yeah the power switch argument only goes so far when we’re talking about a turn based rpg with pretty basic graphics

How does it possibly look that bad? I bought Disgaea 5 Complete on a whim, having NO knowledge of the games, but it looks fantastic on Switch. And I’ve put 160 hours into it and still honestly don’t really know what I’m doing and at this point have to re-learn the entire game and its crazy baffling weird mechanics and

I hate that this is Switch exclusive in America. I would sacrifice the portability to have it look better if we could get the ps4 version. Hoping this is timed exclusive and we get a PC or PS4 release in the future.

We live in a time where this game and Ratchet and Clank a Rift Apart both exist and the console that plays the later is only 100$ more. I’d love to see a Nintendo console with modern graphics sometime in my life.

Isn’t this the game series where each item has its own dungeon you can play through, which in turn upgrades the item? I always thought that was a neat mechanic.
