A big part of a smartphone experience that this article doesn't touch is the infrastructure backing a phone. Yes, it's cheaper, but maybe because they don't have to pay for customer support or warranties.

I don't think "that goes for pocket watches too." I think this company wants it to go for pocket watches too. Can't imagine pocket watches every become useful again. That's basically a smart phone.

I just finished my new home work station and I'm trying to figure out how to maximize by efficiency. I have a custom PC with two 27" screens, a personal 13" MBP and my work computer, a 13" MBP. I LOVE the idea of have a PC-Mac workflow, but have never found it to be actually useful. What kind of tasks are you doing…

I live in a fairly rural area. My neighbors 200m down the road have FIOS, but I can only get DSL. (It's 200m further outside of town.) What are the chances that this decision affects my internet speeds within the next 5 years? I'm guessing slim to none. With no other options, they have no pressure to improve.
