The Cardinal is coming for a visit. my mom used this when dad was feeling randy.

You can pry “The Communists are in the funhouse” from my cold dead hands

Have you watched her in action? She’d be considered a TERRIFIC politician if she were male. She’s engaged, quick on her feet, sympathetic, smart, and unfuckingbelievably well prepared. But everything she does is judged against this super coded background noise of “but well she’s shrill and her ambition is unseemly.”

I think you’re conflating a couple of things - first, Hillary has never said “elect me because I’m a woman” - she has said that her gender is relevant to her experience, which is honestly not that far off of what Obama said in 2008 about his experience with race (google it).

Unfortunately, I think there is some overlap. Some of the misogyny directed at Hillary reminds me of “hipster racism” wherein a group hides their prejudice by claiming that they are “just saying” but lolz because there's no way they could ever be racist/ misogynist.

I’m sorry but the first woman president is not in the same ballpark as the first Jewish president. In over 200 years in which this country has always been majority women, we have never had a single woman president.

The fact that he doesn’t get it is (one of) the reason(s) I am not voting for him in the primary.

Except they are not both “a little different from the status quo.” A Jew in the White House would be “a little different” - like Kennedy being the first Catholic. A female President would be monumentally different. This not like comparing Honey Crisp and Red Delicious, and to pretend it is, is actually showing you

It’s the difference between punching up and punching down. EVERYTHING is made for white, straight, cis men. So they don’t have to rally their communities around anything, because it’s all just...theirs. By default.

Thanks for mansplaining me how to understand words

I thought it would be the most easily accepted example of a privileged group favoring its own members - softer examples tend to invite a lot of disagreement over whether things were really that bad, or whether they even existed. If you find the comparison distasteful, blame those who fight to the death to claim that

My issue with both Killer Mike’s statement and this response (and Bernie Bros in general) is that the implication is that HRC *is* saying, “Vote for Me Because I Have A Uterus!”

This!!!

Every single time he comes out to defend something he is called out on, it furthers my opinion that although he really really means well, he still doesn’t really *get* the experiences of people not like him. Privilege is invisible, and I’m not sure he’s doing enough to make sure he sees it all the time. Like with his

“Bernie v. Hillary” articles are the new “How much money is TOO much money to spend on a WEDDING?” articles.

This whole conversation is so distracting from what these two people actually want to do should they get into the white house, yet, I still find myself getting sucked into it! Frustrated.

But Bernie, bro, a lot of your followers are explicitly saying just that and losing their shit anytime someone attempts to even mention the word Hillary let alone discuss the issues at hand. Also, you might want to mention that all non uterus having folks have had a stranglehold on this whole process for eternity, so

Well of course he isn’t saying that because being a man is the unquestioned STANDARD. Jesus.

That analogy doesn’t hold terribly well... A disadvantaged class attempting to collectively improve its position by promoting members of the group has a demonstrated track record of success in helping to mitigate historical disadvantages. A less controversial example of this might be a campaign to promote black-owned
