Also Slipgate Ironworks (formerly Interceptor) who were working on a Duke Nukem 3D remake and a Duke Nukem 3rd person game for 3D Realms, before getting into trouble with Gearbox. The latter game became Bombshell.

So in a weird way, Duke Nukem and 3D Realms are a part of the same brand again. I mean, they’re sharing a parent company, but close enough.
and whatever led to the demise is pretty irrelevant in this matter, when the actual problem is using work email for non-work stuff (like personal password storage??) in the first place
They don't need sponsors. Bobby can fund it out of his back pocket.
“(Black Widow’s “Premium Access” payments on Disney+ were reportedly lumped into the totals used to determine Johansson’s bonuses, but her claim remains that the decision to place it on streaming inherently devalued its potential for performance.)“
Honestly, I’m pretty solidly with Disney here.
“employees participating in the walkout would get paid time off for it” = you are allowed to use your existing paid time off allocation today
Did they at least add new content to the update to offset the removal of the scenes?
it does slightly irk me that they said “we can do better” if they can then replace those scenes with the better idea dont just chop them out
The people who already bought the game, and have had it changed because of snowflakes can’t “take their money elsewhere”. So unless Steam begins to refund people for a game they bought four years ago, you are the one who should shut up.
This is not needless. A company running with the name of a franchise, stripping literally everything that is identifiable about the franchise, and then heavily monetizing it with the hopes of tricking people out of their money isn’t just a different kind of game. Mobile games can be great! It’s fine to spend money on…
The criticism in this article about gacha games monopolizing the market is spot on though. Its virtually impossible to find a quality mobile game that isn't wrapped in these free to play mechanics.
The original headline was better.
I dunno man the state of the mobile market is not really the hill to die on.
Herp derp Kotaku said a cuss my blood pressure has skyrocketed won’t somebody think of the cynical cashgrab freemium, microtransaction-laden bullshit addiction-exploiting mobile game’s hurt feelings? How dare you be mean to a game Kotaku that’s not what video game culture is about gamers never say negative things…
But where’s the lie?
Yeah... no. That is ABSOLUTELY what mobile games are now and have been for years, the exact by the numbers framework to milk as much money from “whales” as possible. You MIGHT get a lucky gem every now and then or an Apple Arcade offer (or Googles laughable attempt to copy it) but those are the exception, not the…
I believe the proper take here is that EA and 2K are just lazy. So screw them for these shitty decisions.
The primary incentive to buy bundles is to save money. Conversely, nobody goes to a charity auction to save money. People go to charity auctions to make themselves look good in front of their peers. The goals are completely different.
God forbid Humble has humans that need salaries and storefronts to continuously optimize and update. Do people really not understand that donating full to charity makes operating that site impossible? Not unless they’re getting a chunk full of government assistance.
