I feel like “I want to be surprised” is a recipe for disappointment like, 95% of the time (and not just for engagement rings). Most people aren’t surprised by a proposal these days, and lots have a preference on a ring. I mean, I’ve known my boyfriend for years and if you told me to pick him out some highly emotional

Yeah, I guess Mrs. Crayoneater was more concerned with having something she’d like than being surprised (she also hates surprises). We had also been dating for a while, so I think it was more expected... and I still managed to make it a nice event by making a whole day out of it.

Or you can cut out the middle man, move past that charade and just ask the soon-to-be-wife yourself.

You’re going to (hopefully) spend the rest of your life with this person. Have a conversation with them like a goddamn adult and get her exactly what she wants with an agreed upon budget.

Her boss’ problem isn’t with her clothes, it’s with her skin tone.

Yes, definitely, religious communities are another great way to meet people. I have met most of my best friends through churches I’ve been/am involved with. I also like that it allows me an opportunity to get to know people of all ages, life stages and backgrounds including many people I would struggle to get to know

We made a ton of new friends through rescuing dogs. Some of which have become really good friends. Getting a dog (please adopt, don’t shop) is an instant conversation starter.

I’m not religious, but I’ve been to services for various reasons. You’re absolutely right. People are very welcoming and since it’d be something you have in common, it’s a great starting point.

I lived in Miami for a short while. One of the reasons that I most hated the entire city was a morning show called “Black, White, Hispanic, or Other.” The hosts would read off a crime and listeners would call in and guess if the perpetrator was black, white, hispanic, or other. Miami is the worst.

What is it about us that makes people so mad?

As a born and raised New Mexican who hates this governor, please dish!

My interactions with her were limited to when we worked together and she was a district attorney.

I personally know her and can attest, she is the literal worst.

Damn, I’m late with this. But I suppose I can still share just how much trouble I got into as a teenager.
