This is definitely not for everyone, but joining a religious community should be on the list. I moved to a big city out of college and knew a grand total of 1 person. Then I became involved in a church, and those folks have become my closest friends (plus I’ve been able to explore my own feelings about religion with

A few years back, I visited my sister in Denmark, and she had specially requested peanut butter. I went through security with 2 costco size jars of JIF only to be told that my peanut butter was a gel.... After about 3 minutes of fighting it, I realized that I had only checked one of my 2 bags, so I ran back and

I lived in Miami for a short while. One of the reasons that I most hated the entire city was a morning show called “Black, White, Hispanic, or Other.” The hosts would read off a crime and listeners would call in and guess if the perpetrator was black, white, hispanic, or other. Miami is the worst.

Palace of wonders is closed now, unfortunately, but love everything else you mentioned!! It’s actually not Smith Commons, but rather H St. Country Club (which may not have been around when you were). Ughh I don’t live in DC any more, but visit very frequently and now I’m craving Dangerously Delicious so hard.

Ahhhh too cute :) I love it. Also, first date to married with a kid in 5 years? Go you!

Lauren here.... they were definitely born and raised in DC, so they get no benefit of the doubt.

WHATTTT?!? That’s a small world! Haha I loved working there, because the staff is top-notch (although an awesome manager and bartender both left this month). I haven’t eaten there since they changed chefs so I can’t speak to quality, but they definitely still serve chilaquiles for brunch. The rooftop is really nice in

I dated a guy briefly who grew up in DC that told me 10 years ago I wouldn’t have felt comfortable even walking down H St. I was offended until I realized he was right. It’s still a little rough east of the safeway - we had 6 break-ins and a murder on my block alone over the course of a month... But, my goodness, how

haha fair! Maybe it was just exciting to be on the other side of the flying golfballs

poster here... it’s all good to share! I did elsewhere in the comments.

The mini golf course is actually pretty fun. Highly recommend. (For brunch, obvs).

Author here... DING DING DING!!!!!

Author here! H St. area. Think mexican food at a place named for the haven of rich, white snobs that really hate Mexicans/all immigrants, but are ok with them being caddies.

I’m actually the one that wrote that story, and let me tell you... they were not from out of town. Just cheap as the day is long.
