It’s almost impressive how they haven’t even managed to accidentally hire someone who isn’t complete garbage.

Don’t forget that Obama got elected in part because his opponent withdrew weeks before the election due to the divorce filing by his wife, Star Trek: Voyager actress Jeri Ryan, that accused him of being more than a bit too kinky for a “family values” Republican.

Polls of hypothetical Presidential matchups generally tend to show Biden doing better against Trump than other Democratic candidates. Traditional election models also hold that elections are going to be decided by swing voters in tipping-point states, and there is some significant evidence that he appeals to them more…
To be fair, pretty much nobody who is actually an “elite” thinks that you’re an elite for having a golden toilet. They think you’re a tacky person with more money than sense. They think you’re elite for other foolish wastes of money, like buying organic food or paying to send your kid to some expensive Montessori…
I strongly suspect that such a law would not only be overturned on 2nd and 4th amendment grounds, but would probably fail to get any political traction for many reasons, one of the most concerning being that it would disproportionately affect the poor and people of color, either keeping them from owning weapons for…
I mean, congress can kick him out, but they won’t, and for pretty good reasons. The guy was democratically-elected by his constituents and congress doesn’t want to be in the business of overturning the will of the people. Historically, unless a congressman is indicted for a serious crime or misconduct relating to a…

It isn’t everyone who owns a handgun though. There are a lot more people that own handguns than there are people with concealed weapons permits or who open-carry loaded weapons in urban areas.
Many states already require licenses to carry loaded weapons in public. They could probably add an insurance requirement to that.
I don’t know that it would pass constitutional muster. States might be able to require people who carry weapons in public to carry insurance (like people who get concealed carry licenses), just as they do for cars that operate on public highways. But requiring people to carry insurance to own property is going to be a…
I mean, you don’t have to stop gun shows. You just have to do what many states have done and have the actual transaction handled by a licensed dealer.
Hmm, I live in California (which has some of the strictest purchase requirements) and I’ve purchased several firearms and I would say the process is pretty easy.
I’m not sure exactly what you’re saying with people going through depression, but if the idea is that if you get diagnosed with a mental illness like depression and that triggers a process to remove your firearms, I don’t think there is going to be a benefit to society from such legislation. It may actually make…
Who’s ever heard of a foreign-born white person?
She doesn’t have a racist bone in her body. And she’s friends with both of Marysville’s brown people.
The weird thing is that the people who seem most scared of immigrants are the ones who live the furthest away from the places that immigrants actually live. Like people in rural Missouri worrying about Muslims imposing Sharia law on them or people in Boise worried about all the Mexicans coming over the Arizona-Mexico b…
I thought SOP for the GOP was either to try to deftly change the subject, usually to some sort of whataboutism (what about the Democrats founding the KKK?) or to gently condemn Trump’s racism while not doing anything about it.
