neither car was required to yield, neither car had right of way, both where on the freeway both had to merge, according ot california law. The fault was at least as much on the google car as it was on the camry.

Both where at fault. California code has no rules on merging so it is up to the two drivers to work it out. in the case of an accident it is up to the officer at the scene or the eventual judge/jury to decied.
