Was it a bad idea to ban smoking in public areas? How about seatbelts? Or the National Parks system... which was a legislative prohibition on development of vast areas of land.
it’s true that the author is pushing an alternative to the standard narrative of what a ‘good life’ should look like. there’s no surprises that this upsets a lot of people. perhaps her version goes even farther than mine.

It would help to understand the proposition. Banning ownership of cars is not on the table. Banning use, in certain areas (cities), and perhaps only during certain hours, is what’s on the table.
