I don’t control shit.

“Take your star”

The entire way through this I was waiting for it to pitch some kind of product. It reads like ad copy to me for some reason. Aside from being a nonexistent bullshit social phenomenon.

The fact that you’ll pretend this is a thing is just one of the reasons no one takes you seriously.

Very important to recognize a fallacy: Just because a winning manager is obviously bad at the tactical side of the job, it doesn’t mean he’s good at the managing people side. Baker sucks at the x’s-and-o’s and is a clubhouse cancer. His teams won in spite of him.

I’d never heard of cuffing until this year. I live in a seasonally cold climate, but it still feels like someone’s trying to make fetch happen.

You’ve got a better chance of getting some speed with Latin and African-Americans.

She cut her teeth in the mean streets of Manhattan as a white girl.

That’s the beauty of The Plan — drive off from your fan base everyone except for the most deluded followers, and now you have a stat that looks impressive to people who don’t know anything about stats! Today’s Sixers have 100% optimism for the future. Not even the Sixers of the days with Erving and Malone and Cheeks

Aren't you required to mention Donald Trump somewhere in here?

“Not only that, but one of the parties seems distinctly evil nowadays.”

Nailed it. The whole “the internet needs to be tamed (by the government)” narrative is implicit throughout the post. They did everything short of declaring Yeti to be an accomplice.

Yay for cool adults! I was the favorite RA (or at least that’s what they told me) in college for the same reason. Teens drinking wine coolers in their rooms = teens not drinking jungle juice at a frat party. It also meant that when someone was actually in trouble, they weren’t afraid to call me.

Wait, I think I follow you: so this story is like "Very Bad Things," only with a deer instead of a hooker, and Brett Favre doesn't end up killing all his friends and crippling his brother and being an amputee, and...wait.

It doesn’t take a genius to recognize that it’s a self-effacing story of a country boy doing something wrong and instead of doing the right thing progressively doing dumber and dumber. If it’s in the telling (as Brunell stressed) why not benefit of the doubt. Obviously it’s what a dumb f’er I was and I kept doing

I’m looking at the study right now, and am a little lost as to how they come to that 50% number. Not because I just don’t understand - I’m pretty well trained in this sort of econometric analysis - but because I think they’re making an (almost certainly innocent) mistake.

I thought of the same damn thing.

Actually, I’m very smart.

So what? Once the call is made you should still be able to stop a Hail Mary. And even if it was a wrong call, it wasn’t a horrible call.
