You’re right it’s true; Israel could reduce the number of deaths, if only they’d stop retaliating when Hamas attacks them, but that’s not fair to ask of Israel or any other country.

No, that’s not what I’m saying. What I’m saying is that I value Palestinian lives and I value Israeli lives, because I value life. I don’t think Israeli lives are any more or less valuable than any other life. I just want people to live rather than die. I do not want escalating cycles of violence; I want fewer Read more

Who cares what Israel and Hamas think?Their thoughts are not your thoughts. Presumably you’re capable of deciding moral questions for yourself. If you believe Israeli and Palestinian lives are of equal value, well, Israel is responsible for 95% of lives lost right now. What they should do, if you think Israeli lives Read more

By last check, 192 Palestinians have been killed so far, including 58 children. 10 Israelis have been killed so far. Do you think Israeli lives are more valuable than Palestinian lives? Do you think Israeli lives are nearly 20 TIMES more valuable than Palestinian lives? Do you not think Israel deserves criticism for a Read more

Biden’s response doesn’t have to be small. But in any event I wouldn’t hold out any hope that Biden will do *anything* small or more consequential. His response to the attack on the media building was to affirm Israel’s “right to defend itself” while condemning Hamas. In the eyes of the administration, this isn’t even Read more

Meanwhile, for all the tough posturing of Biden towards Netanyahu, it took him almost no time to just roll over and make clear that, yes, America under Biden will still support Israel’s “right” to kill Palestinians with impunity. Don’t worry Bibi, America doesn’t view Palestinian lives as having any value either. Read more

It’s a weird thing to say you are on the side of the Palestinian people given your apparent support of Israeli actions that kill scores of Palestinian people.

I know, I’m amazed all the people who nearly died and had their offices completely destroyed aren’t more grateful to Israel for giving them an hour’s warning before destroying everything.

Is that how this works?  Any group dealing with persecution gets carte blanche to oppress?  Wait until you hear what Arabs and Muslims have been through...

That tweet doesn’t say that the building was actually housing combatants or any other relevant military assets? Do any of those articles have independent corroboration that there were combatants or anything else in the building, or are they relying on IDF claims?

“They’re only acting in self-defense” says Israel’s top backer, hence why Israel feels they are able to do things like this with impunity.

You’re making a lot of assumptions and arguing against a lot of things I didn’t say. I didn’t say Israel was “worse in that regard.” But I’m not sure what your argument about what “half of the Palestinians” would do is supposed to be about. Palestinians don’t have a state. They can’t ethnically cleanse anyone. Israel Read more

That said, Hamas’s stated goal is a full Palestinian state. They don’t want a 2 state solution and they don’t want to live in shared state with the Jewish people I disagree with many of Isreal’s actions, but Hamas is not a organization dedicated to public good.

Why aren’t we all so sophisticated that we just accept the brutal subjugation, including the “occasional” slaughter, of Palestinians without question?

I’d just ask anyone who goes out of their way to explain and justify Israel’s actions which cause horrific death and suffering, for which there are understandable (not necessarily justifiable) reasons, to make sure you’re doing the same thing for Palestinians, who are the ones who bear the brunt of the consequences of Read more

I actually think it’s fair to expect that a company would become familiar enough with what a prominent hire has said in a best-selling book. It didn’t take other people very long to point out these multiple objectionable passages. It’s not really “due diligence” if you outsource it to 3 year old book reviews!
