Meth? Opioids? Honestly curious
Is it just me, or do those seatbelts allow a lot of forward give on a front impact... the seats move a lot too. Is this normal for modern cars? wouldn’t a seatbelt retractor and firmly mounted seats help?
So it has moved from being a classic to being a restomod. Instead of sitting in the garage or putt putted down the street in a 4th of July parade because it is mechanically insufficient for today’s travel its out being enjoyed by its owner and those of us who get to see it. NP
I would agree from the perspective of a sports car, even the 914. This is a van with lots of weight and no aspirations of performance. Even then the original engine was just to underpowered for this size of vehicle and would make it unsafe in everyday traffic. I don’t see a problem with a horsepower upgrade especially…
I get originality on a car you buy for the driving experience like an air-cooled 911. But nobody is buying a VW Bus because of the sonorous engine. No, you buy a VW Bus for style, and this one has it in spades, with a bit of extra reliability so you won’t cross your fingers every time you leave on a road trip. NP.
If everything is perfect and the service records are there I would aim the price more around 40k. Miles are too high for the $56k. If it had 10k miles it would be more justifiable, and would be a more enticing for a collector.
Crack pipe for the price. Nice car, cool S-whatever engine, but damn ... not 60 grands.
Adjusted for inflation, $43,500 in January 2002 would be $60,060 today.
Didn’t it cost less than this brand new? I feel like these were in the 45-50k range when they were on dealer lots.
If we’re going on what Bear Grylls can eat we can also add McLaren P1
Oscar-Meyer Weinermobile.
Brazilian here. Fun fact..... you already know about the spare tire in the engine compartment, but do you know how the dual carb came about???
Well the article did say the filmer was a friend of a driver. Only makes sense.
Stupid never sleeps.
You’re not going to get - or want - a manual transmission in a car like this. If that is your reason, you’re not buying it at any price anyway.
Here’s a fun and true story. After the war a lot of Jeeps were fitted with conveyor belts to load baggage onto commercial aircraft. While they mostly did the job, they were very unstable and often tipped over. My grandfather actually solved this problem by designing the first purpose-built belt loader for aircraft…
The CCTV pans with wreckage? Or was this filmed from the second story window by a coworker who happened to get the money shot?
And here’s the wrong way...
Looking and Quality? That’s just my read on it
