I don't find the Saul-Carrie hostility and tension all that incomprehensible actually; it was mentioned earlier in the season that she played a part in tanking his bid for CIA director. Plus there was all that bad blood from the last episode of season 4 when Saul endorsed Dar Adal's deal with Haqqani.
