Not really. It is a familiar brand with lots of British input of the years. But only as British as Vauxhall is, which was GM and now PSA.
Everyone knows it is a BMW. The whole Union Jack thing is nothing more than a bit of ‘cool’ branding.
We’re don’t buy based on manufacturing. Otherwise there would be so many British names left in car manufacturing.
But no one gives a hoot about that. That’s most likely not the reason it is bought.

Not really. Arguably it looks good, handles really well and is a BMW.
Most French cars are rubbish, as are most US cars, Italian, even German cars are pretty unreliable.
They play on a bit of nostalgia, but that counts for less when you head over to the BMW garage to buy one.
However, none of these are British brands, or still British.
Jaguar isn’t an obsession of the British at all.
I have had 2 Defenders. A ‘87 2.5 petrol ‘van’ - Ninety. And a ‘03 TD5 90 pick up.
This is just not the case. While there’s plenty of public transport, the heavily congested motorways as I used to use on my daily 120 mile commute state otherwise.
BTW I use ‘VAG’ two fold, this can and will include women.
