This is where it gets a little more interesting. All of my VAG’s have been or are very old.

Hmmm, this is the thing. VAG products on the whole have been reliable and well built.

TL:DR - However, there’s nothing worse than hearing some really loud sh!tty car being ragged to death.

Similar tale here with a Bentley Continental that I borrowed.

I don’t really agree with the comment regarding pick ups being rare in the UK.

Surely this is where a low capacity engine with a turbo would come in to its own...reduced idling costs and power when needed.

Crikey, I would only get figures that low when i was v-tecing my old Civic type-R

I’ve had two Defenders in the past. An ‘87 2.5 petrol Ninety and a 2003 TD5.

Surely that boils down to lots and lots of idling?

These things seem to litter semi-rural Northern towns in the UK driven by hoodlums with knobbly tyres, snorkels and winches for green laning.

I agree, this is just a Nissan with a fancy badge. If I was in the market for a pick-up, I wouldn’t go near this.

Freddie is an absolute Northern ‘lad’, a bit of a bro as you may say but it is genuine. He’s a bloke through and through, it’s not for the camera or to be a ‘personality’.

Agree on the interview bits, it seems the hosts aren’t particularly bothered about it either and would rather be trying to f*ck up each others’ segment links.

I’m from the UK so know Flintoff and Paddy from their other exploits over here (particularly Flintoff turning up to No.10 Downing Street absolutely steaming).

There’s a Lotus dealer near me in Leeds, there’s a yellow one on the forecourt for sale, probably a 2019.

You nincompoop.

Isn’t it just a technical marvel that any real alterations wouldn’t necessarily improve what is a phenomenal formula?

This looks horrendous.

In Europe cars don’t really have a place in city centres.

I feel like the rest of the world still have mud and snow yet complete the task using much smaller power plants.
