Apparently they did not share your take on the request. One does need to take one’s audience into account... Someone familiar with the Irish may have suggested a different approach to avoid it being construed as an arrogant and unthinkingly egotistical request.

If this YT video maker was a travel writer that had experience with Ireland, she could have anticipated this reaction. She made a request for a free stay at a busy time with short notice. That can come of as presumptive and egotistical.
