It is not. It’s satirical and context is important. Issa’s own father is a doctor.

Like these assholes haven’t heard any of their friends date white women, wax on forever about redbone, yellow bone women etc.. Kanye is their idol.

I have her book, haven’t read it yet. But at least Issa Rae has my money.
Let them be mad. This is satire but This is the type of shit they serve black women 24-7. Notice how they’re mad but she didn’t disrespect black men the way they ALWAYS do black women. Notice who she always casts as her love interests in media she creates: black men. The pick-me’s need to sit their asses down…
No thank you.
It’s called Black Fragility and it is a real problem.
Full disclosure, I’m a Black woman married to a foreign born Chinese man. We’ve been together for over a decade & I don’t look like Hallie. No, he doesn’t have tons of Black friends and has never tried to “act Black”.
You’re assuming they went in the first place. Perhaps their parents paid and they skipped them all.
*smh* Those people have waaaaaayyy too much time on their hands if that’s what they’ve chosen to hyperfocus on in a national & international climate like this.
I think more Black women should date interracially. Many men of different ethnic backgrounds and races actually find Black women very attractive. I honestly don’t think you should limit yourself to one group. You only end up diminishing your own chances of finding happiness.
Can we all agree to not let people make us feel guilty for who we date?
This dumbass Fidel Cashflow admitted to no understanding he joke after some tweeted the whole entry. Crunchy Sock Twitter never fails to disappoint.
So, three years ago, Issa Rae threw out some hypothetical ideas to spur people think about something.
I think the Filipino comment definitely is the part that’s really problematic here (I am Filipino). It kinda touches on a really sensitive subject about Filipinos in comparison to other Asians.
Issa Rae has the most beautiful smile.
If someone can’t tell from the title of the book that it’s satire, I’m sorry... you need another English literature class.
I can see the line about Filipinos being problematic. Other than that, I see nothing wrong with this passage.
I’ve met plenty of Asian men that like Black women. Lisa Wu of RHOA came from such a union.
It’s too early for this nonsense Lmao. That masculinity stay fragile huh
