I mentioned in the other thread that FF7 is the WarioWare of all of the Final Fantasy series. Minigames and madcap absurdity is core to FF7's identity which is held together by some of the most charming player characters in the series, their strong relationship with each other, and the relatable overarching story and

Not unpopular. I just can’t play phone games in general for extended periods without ergonomic controller grips. Years of playing DoTA Allstars brutalized my hands and now I’m paying the price for it.

Wow, this sounds like a pretty bad oversight if full version only cutscenes were made skippable.

Now playing

Listening to Uematsu and the current baton holder, Masayoshi Soken talk shop for 30 minutes was a treat. I could listen to them talk for hours. (with the aid of a translator)

I’ve always loved the irony.  From one planet sucking resource to another!

And the dialogue is miles worse than FF7 Remake. Advent Children is aging not quite so gracefully these days.

Final Fantasy XIV Shadowbringers

But that was true of the original FF7 too. It had more minigames than either the game before or after. If it wasn’t an RPG, it would be the prototype Wario Ware of the series.

FF7 is the cautionary tale that keeps on telling...

Promote him to Major

From many anecdotal experiences I’ve heard over the years, the original FF7 was meant to be this long. So why can’t the Remake Trilogy?

There are lines of dialogue I still think about during random moments in the day, scenes that I recall as I get out of bed, or go to sleep, make dinner, or take the train somewhere.

Super Mario Bros, Galaga, Ms. Pac Man, After Burner II, oh and Daytona USA.

Yes, the combat is older style, tab-target and is showing it’s age. But since you mentioned single player, I have a hard time thinking of any MMO that’s even come close the way they’ve worked to accommodate this playstyle.

They’ve even added Stormblood to the free trial mix. That’s basically 3/5 of the entire content of FF14 to date.

Only 3 months (minimum) at least! Isn’t platform competition great!

This sounds like a product owner, caught wind of low sales, and went to local distribution points to do something about it, and voila. More sales.

I think there’s a disconnect between the character Sephiroth in 1997 vs. today. In ‘97, he had an aura of mystery surrounding his every move, with only sparse details. In the original game, at Kalm, was the first time he was even on screen, so his true introduction in that sequence was far more impactful.

I’m skeptical here too. None of the current consoles, or even last gen, were able to sustain 60fps gameplay at 4K in high-profile games.
