Phil Spencer isn’t quite accurate when he said that the games industry is not growing. At least two of these games would have been branded as “Million Sellers” 20 years ago on a box at Wal-mart, but some-how, they’re not seen as huge titles?

It’s arguable that the damage was already done in 2013, by Don Mattrick.
Even Square Enix put a footnote of PS5 Exclusivity for FF7 Rebirth lasting at least only 3 months, compare to an entire year+ from Remake.
Squirrel drew first blood.
As groundbreaking as the original Tomb Raider was in ‘96, Super Mario 64 was still and is still, the better game.
So you kids would rather have the finger huh?
During combat, FF7 Rebirth is even more intricate and requiring of responsive lag-free controls, so I recommend keeping gameplay to performance mode at 60fps.
And if you read between the lines from Red XIII’s description of what they were, you could infer that they are yet another manifestation of “The Planet’s” own defense mechanisms. Of course Aerith, and Sephiroth are likely tuned to what they really are, but we can also expect Red XIII to know more about them, if we…
I’m all on board with this now, and I wasn’t initially (during the Compilation era). My biggest fear, remains that the big reveals in the next two games could discredit the greater mythos of “The Planet” (tm) built so far in the FF7 universe.
“Mrs. Bates?”
You right. My mistake.
I came to the same conclusion after wrapping my head around the end to FF7 Remake. If the game was just a retelling of the original title, it had just enough examples of “ret-conning” for lack of a better term, to annoy the hell out of me.
HEY! What did I say before about Stanley Cups? There’s only ONE.
I think it still holds true, but its as you say, not the “porn” that we remember 20 years ago.
In 2022, I would have said, for those that couldn’t afford very expensive PCs and graphics cards that run them.
Hard to say, but I’m inclined to agree. SE and Microsoft have been in discussions for Xbox support for a very long time, and I would guess that neither party was ever very close to getting a deal. You can’t really compare server costs from 20 years ago vs. today, so the circumstances for FF11 on Xbox 360 and FF14 now…
Another great start for another great year for JRPGs !
Interesting theory. Very interesting. My only issue with it, is if Cloud dies, how can that set up Advent Children, if we’re being told intentionally mislead that the remake series will lead up to it?
“the struggle between magic and technology in a quest to bring peace to a land in conflict.”
With how many new games there are, it’s hard to recommend to newcomers to play every game in a franchise. If there’s a bare minimum game to play, its really the original PS1 game.
