Bar none, my favorite moment is part VIII when that dude squared up with Jason. Big hero moment.

People getting weirded out by Dwayne Johnson’s constant PR speak seem to be misremembering some mythical time when he didn’t have a carefully crafted public persona. I think they’re conflating him with the character of The Rock, who admittedly was awesome. But even if you go back to his very first interviews, I don’t…
John Madden is somewhere pissed off right now, I’m sure.
Really? I was hit almost immediately with the Raimi-ness when the camera started panning through the wreckage of the Sanctum Sanctorum, complete with crazily creaking pieces of timber á là Evil Dead II.
Just catching up to this episode after a few months. That monologue from Joe Lo Truglio was fucking legit. And the shot choice—a long unbroken take, with an uncharacteristically still and steady camera, pushing in slowly on Boyle’s face as he pours out his surprisingly relatable despair and deepest fears—just makes it…
“Oater”, on the other hand...
Looking forward to next month’s glowing Mel Gibson retrospective.
Oh, how I miss “Reaper”. Such a fun show, the somehow-even-goofier stepsibling of “Supernatural”.
It’s become lazy pop culture shorthand, at this point. I’ve been on board with him since the first Thor.
It seems like you’re waiting for some comeuppance for Nate that may not arrive. What if they actually had the stones to just let him get away with it? It would certainly be accurate to real life, if not necessarily dramatically satisfying.
“Kemper was 19 years old when she was selected to be the Queen Of Love And Beauty. At that age, teenagers are mature enough to know what they’re being part of.”
What a fucking slog. The only interesting part was the bit of Flashpoint/Injustice future narrative, and that was only in comparison to the 3 hour and 50 minute trash heap that preceded it. Snyder was clearly more invested in the storyline than the rest of it. The closest point of comparison for me is Richard Donner’s…

Trading Places is bad now? Get off my lawn.
Entertaining in fits and starts. A couple of laugh-out-loud moments. Some surprising cameos. Leslie Jones and Wesley Snipes are the MVPs. Jermaine Fowler as the young prince was also a standout for me; he managed to channel that “young Eddie” energy just enough that you could kind of handwave any questions of whether…
Goddamn, did I need this blast of viciousness right now. Thanks, Dowd. It’s like a surgically precise shotgun blast.
Again, I have to put it out there: read the Matthew Stover novelization. It’s one of the best Star Wars books I’ve ever read. Really gives so much more weight to what happens onscreen. You shouldn’t have to read additional material in order to fully enjoy the cinematic experience, but this one is worth it.
Reading a collection of poems called “Mixed Feelings” by Avan Jogia. Been a while since I found some poetry that really hit me.
A penis-shaped dildo?? What’ll they think of next?
Nope. They can’t have the Punisher. Can’t. I’m not getting rid of my shirts.
