Why is this making me angry? The fuel door specifies what to put in. I always check when it’s not my vehicle to check. Besides the sound the vehicle makes on the outside to tell people it’s a diesel. A gas car wouldn’t have a filler for DEF. 

Would I have noticed? I think so, but maybe not for a while.

That’s how you know the difference between journalism and automotive journalism- when the writer doesn’t notice the difference between a diesel and a gas engine. A “car geek” of any sort would be excited about the Diesel part of the journey, a writer the “Escalade” part.  I think you’ve defined yourself.

How do you review a car and not know it’s a diesel?

First thing I do when picking up a rental car is clean everything with Clorox bleach wipes or with hand sanitizer and paper towels. You won't believe how much filth is in a rental car.
