You are absolutely right. I almost forgot about Excite Bike’s track editor. I think it’s still there in the 3DS version of the game. I should play that again some day.
Thanks to you I DL’ed the latest iteration and successfully edited/tested a Mario Kart rom. Good times :D
This looks very enjoyable.
I think I know what this is missing
Same. I like the idea of packing up at the end. I dont think that’s ever been done before.
Looks very chill. Tossed it on my wishlist, we'll see how it turns out.
To all those that didn’t know, somebody made a free Super Mario Kart editor years ago. I checked my external HD and an older version 2.3 says it was downloaded in 2011. They are currently up to 2.8.7 now.
It’s called EpicEdit and it’s located here:

Don’t forget Excitebike for NES & Famicom and it’s built-in track editor, which was only partially usable in western countries since it relied on tape drive device was never released.. imagine my frustration as a kid trying to save a track would just lock up the system.
totally unrelated, just saw this on FB and had…
Techland deserves more love than could possibly be given for a developer.
If the next Mario Kart has a track editor, I may never play another game
Nintendo has a history of trying to implement track editors in its racing games. From Super Mario Kart to F-Zero X to Diddy Kong Racing on the DS. I hope their next racing game has a track editor.
I was annoyed at WoW for making male trolls hunched over and monstrous while female trolls were upright and elegant. They did it again with worgen.
I always hated the mono-gender thing. I happened to want to play a male Hrothgar (and it is amazing how adorable they can be made to look) so it didn’t affect me, but it’s always been a really dumb design decision for me.
Hopefully they will avoid the ridiculous “males look like anthropomorphic animals, while females…
100 percent it’s satire lol
It....it *has* to be satire, right? the crying slave monkeys, the weapon assembly line pichu things. This *has* to be some kinda commentary/joke right, it’s just too on-the-nose. I’m going crazy here, lol
This is arguably less fucked up than a lot of mainstream games like Grand Theft Auto.
Nah, that’s kind of the point of video games - they let you safely explore things you wouldn’t do in real life, if you care to.
RPG Time is the most charming thing I’ve ever seen. Giving Yoshi a run for his money?
Give me all the 2D-action-sidescrollers! “The Legend of Tianding” is my highlight, here. As a fan of (historical) Hong-Kong/Chinese action-movies this scratches a certain itch. Hope, it turns out to be as good as it looks.
