You know what is really fucked up about this?
You know what is really fucked up about this?
I’ve been sexually harassed by a humanities professor who used to buy me alcohol when I was underage and say Don Drapery things to me. I was into it at the time, but he was like 45 and I was 18. I know I wasn’t the only girl he did this with: I know that he cybered with one and actually slept with another. I saw him…
His ID wasn’t fake, in the end. And even if it had been fake, this would have been excessive (excessive isn’t even a strong enough word!) The wrongful and violent arrests of black men is an epidemic. I can’t even imagine how scary it is to be a black man in the U.S. (Canada has this problem too, but I think to a…
I live in the area. The ABC is indeed racist as fuck.
What he said makes perfect sense to anyone who has spent time in Charlottesville. The police there only do this to people they think are townies. They don’t treat students this way, unless they mistake the student for a townie (student is black and failed to be with white friends and/or wear boat shoes).
I hope Martese holds out for a better settlement than the UVa student who thought she was being held up at gunpoint but was, rather, being arrested for carrying a case of sparking water out of the supermarket that the VABC geniuses thought was something alcoholic. Elizabeth Daly was scared. Martese Johnson was injured…
A bunch of small suits don’t help in isolation. You’re rolling the dice on a very small chance of an officer being held accountable for his actions. But the national trend towards accountability can’t HURT.
Take the VABC for all they have. There was literally no reason to respond the way they did.
Look at the Civil Rights Act of 1871. It’s Section 1983.
Virginia is just Florida with worse beaches.
I personally knew someone who did this to her child. But it was fecal matter. Apparently, one of her kids was actually born sick, and she liked the attention so much she started poisoning the others. (Incidentally, she was also a mommy blogger.)
This paints Africa with an extraordinarily broad brush. I studied abroad in Tunisia for a while as part of a classical archeology program, and I’m sure my experience could not have been more different from someone who was studying abroad in other African countries for other reasons.
I think part of it’s just that these policies are totally meaningless to people out of context. If you just told me a democrat wanted to cut corporate tax and gave me no additional context, and I didn’t already know a lot about corporate tax, I would assume there was a reason for it. And in conjunction with the plan…
Dear god, but that’s a horrible tax plan. Corporate tax is basically nothing. How could you possibly cut it any more than it’s already cut? How could you think that’s Clinton’s plan?
Unless she did something else, I’m really not sure I understand the logic behind prosecuting a telegraph officer for murder.
I had an ex that used to get weirdly affectionate whenever we were on the subway together. Drove me CRAZY.
The dudes who do this are not actually the touchy-feely type of dudes, either. They fear other dudes are gonna take their lady if they momentarily turn their attention away.
I always felt the same way. There’s some PDA that looks more egalitarian, but there are certain postures that some guys take that always rub me the wrong way. It’s hard to put a finger on what the line is, but the worst is a guy who stands directly behind a girl and sorta walks with her like they are one two-legged…
