Maybe it was the yen/dollar rate, but in the late ‘90s all Japanese sports cars just got insanely expensive. The 300Z and Mitsubishi 3000VR4 were one thing around $30K, but once they started getting near $50K people were like oh hell no, I’ll just buy a Corvette

The no-frills HD trucks that are built to work start at about $50K. Do you need a Grand Denali Ultimate Plus Unlimited Limited High Country Platinum Elite to tow your trailer and bikes?

Don’t mind the automatic, it’s a convertible not an M3 track rat, but damn that still seems like a lot of money for a 31-year-old base-engine 3 series. ND.

First, a base Carrera with no options doesn’t exist.

But you CAN’T get a new 911 for $110K, no matter what the MSRP is on the Porsche website. Go buy a new 911 for $110K. I’ll wait.

Hell, it’s Porsche. You can probably spend $10K just for seatbelt colors and a leather-matched key fob.

I saw blue seats. Holy shit, this is that “Is the dress gold or blue?” thing again isn’t it?

At half the price I’d pause a bit for consideration, but still hit the ND button. At $38K this is complete lunacy.

Like Doug DeMuro says about the Lotus Elise, as long as these things are in good running condition they always trade for ~$30K regardless of year/mileage. The FJ has a super-devoted fanbase and there’s just not that many of ‘em. NP

Don’t think the corrupt Euro-weasels in the IOC won’t try

I was going to say $2,500 tops for an AWD winter beater. God knows how many miles on it but well north of a quarter-million, and seller can’t even run it through a car wash before taking pics for the ad? The ND is strong with this one.

ND for “Custom Gucci Shifter Boot” alone. But those janky flares definitely kill the deal.

Easy NP, especially since Mercedes decided to whack all new E-Class wagons with a “crossover” ugly stick before shipping them to the US. Seller could probably list this on Martha’s Vineyard Craigslist at 2x the price.

Plus it just looks so freakin’ badass. I love this thing!

Just go to the dealer, order the option code you want, cut them a check for MSRP - no insane “market adjustment” surcharge - and a few months later you got your car. Getting a new Z06 now is like trying to get Taylor Swift tickets for your daughter

Whoever buys it at auction - regardless of age, race or hair status - had nothing to do with that choice made over 50 years ago.

Talking cars with friendly old guys? There are worse things in life.

I know, it’s fun right?!?
